When I was in grad school at Rice back in 1990, the grad student pub, Valhalla, sold plastic cups of Shiner for 65 cents each.

Good question. It also interests me that people today complain of "beige" sedans. Looking at these, there wasn't a whole lot of styling back then. Cars were more utilitarian, but bucking those constraints is what gave the original hot rodders their start.
